We all thought Kyrie heading to the Mavs would be the biggest new of the week, how wrong were we.
Kevin Durant has been traded to the Phoenix Suns for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson and Jae Crowder, along with four first-round draft picks and the right to swap another future first-round pick. The Suns also will receive forward T.J. Warren from the Nets.
Wow. I wrote an article just after the Irving trade saying how the Mavs were now the scariest team in the west. I was right, now I'm so f*cking wrong.
The lphoenix suns had playoff experience already after their trip to the finals, but a second round exit last year against the Mavs wasn't written in the script. Supposed locker room issues with coach Monty Williams and Deandre Ayton fuelled the fans with doubt coming into the season, but they seemed to have got through it.
KD on any team is scary as hell, but on the suns? CP3 is gonna be climbing the all time assists ladder faster than ever, and Durant's gonna be racking up a whole lotta points.
If they gel, it's a tall order for any team in either conference to compete with that level of offensive talent. Celtics maybe? Nuggets with Jamal Murray going crazy along with jokic? Mavs? It's possible, they've definitely got a bounty on their heads now.
We also know the suns offered a package including CP3 to the Nets in exchange for Kyrie Irving earlier in the week, I wonder how that went down with the man himself - KD asked for him specifically?
Even if he didn't - it's a good excuse the suns front office could use to not piss him off too much.
